word poem:// pierce

Waking to a Piercing Dawn

Shooting pain shooting, an evening primrose, mid-scapular
Heat-on-tongue wasabi
Penetration, deep and satisfying, tender and sore
Nipple, clit, eyebrow, tongue, prepuce
A loud wailing song, keening over the dead
The force and momentum of a stingray racing near the reef
Perforate: to make tiny holes in your forearm with an ice pick
Wasps’ stingers, flowery odors that offend
Violently violate, violet vile
A drop of blood, a finger, a prick
Coldness, icy coldness that freezes you to the bone
